Subject: LIBER is seeking for a Project Officer
Are you dynamic and flexible, and would you like to work for an international library organisation? Do you have broad knowledge and understanding of the current movements in the library business? Are you interested in managing European projects? Do you have talent for working with stakeholders from different countries? Do you have experience with planning and implementing dissemination and communication activities? Are you keen to discover new funding opportunities for LIBER and SPARC Europe members? Do you have a good oral and written knowledge of English, and a familiarity with other European languages?
LIBER (Association of European Research Libraries / Ligue des Bibliothèques Européennes de Recherche) and SPARC Europe (The Scholarly Publishing and Academic Resources Coalition), two international library organizations that work closely together, are looking for a Project Officer.
The role:
You will be responsible for undertaking the duties listed in the project description of work which have been assigned to LIBER in the context of European projects. These duties mostly relate to communication and dissemination activities. Furthermore, you will identify new funding opportunities and initiate project bids for LIBER and SPARC Europe members. The Project Officer reports directly to the LIBER Executive Director.
You will
- work with other project partners and co-ordinate actions and work packages
- identify and liaise with different stakeholders in the context of several (European) projects
- draft communication and dissemination plans for different communities
- promote projects and raise awareness through workshops, conferences, social media and other tools
- disclose relevant experience/points of interest amongst the LIBER and SPARC Europe network
- identify new funding opportunities for LIBER/SPARC Europe members
- define the scope of new project bids and attract potential partners on behalf of LIBER/SPARC Europe members
- work out strategies for the conversion of projects into sustainable services
Required skills and experience:
- University degree
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Excellent knowledge of oral and written English. Understanding of at least 2 other European languages
- Familiarity with/interest in current issues in research libraries (scholarly communication, digital preservation, aggregation of content)
- Full knowledge of the MS Office suite of tools
- Full experience of current communication tools, in particular social media
- Dynamic, flexible and with a demonstrable feeling for innovation
- Sense of diplomacy and a leader at the same time
- International experience is desirable
Terms and conditions of employment
The initial appointment (40 hours per week) will be for 2 years, subject to a positive evaluation after 1 year. The appointment is open to renewal at the end of this period by mutual consent. The post of Project Officer will be located in the LIBER Office in the National Library of the Netherlands in The Hague.. Regular travel outside The Netherlands will be required.
Salary will be based on Scale 10: minimum € 2,339, - to maximum € 3,707, - gross per month full-time, plus a vacation allowance of 8%, and a December allowance of 8.33%. In addition you will be entitled to 42 days holiday per year. The Labour Agreement is based on the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Research Centres (http://www.wvoi.nl/default.asp?cid=92&pid=76/).
Out-of-hours working, including occasional weekends, will also be expected in association with conferences and meetings.
