A Livemocha online nyelvtanuló- és nyelvoktató közösség fejlesztői csapata szeretne szélesebb körű együttműködést kialakítani a világ könyvtáraival az idegennyelv-tudás fejlesztése érdekében.
2012. június 21-26-án részt vesznek az ALA idei konferenciáján és kiállításán, amelyre Anaheimben kerül sor. Az erre az alkalomra készített brossúrát megküldte számomra Owen Brewer, a Livemocha munkatársa. Ennek szövegét olvashatják a levél aljában angolul.

Webhelyükön jelenleg 38 idegen nyelven elérhető az általuk fejlesztett egységes tananyag, illetve Active kurzusaikat 5 nyelvre dolgozták ki. Ez utóbbi egy nemzetközi díjjal elismert interaktív nyelvlecke sorozat. A közösség legnagyobb része magánemberként tanul itt, de iskolák, egyetemek, könyvtárak és egyéb szervezetek is bekapcsolódhatnak a folyamatba. Számukra külön segítséget nyújt a Livemocha. A leckék egy részét szoftver javítja, a fogalmazásokat és a felolvasásokat pedig az adott nyelven beszélő tagok értékelik. Az eredményes tanulás egyik kulcsát jelenti, és egyben a motiválás fenntartásának lehetőségét adja a közösség (anyanyelvi) tagjainak bevonása a tanulási folyamatba.
