  Primary function   The Biomedical Information Research Specialist conducts searches in Abbott internal, Abbott licensed and publicly available information resources. He/She develops and maintains effective relationships with clients by understanding their information needs for timely delivery of comprehensive, cost-effective and relevant information.     Major duties  . Consults with broad range of scientific clients to define information needs and develop appropriate information strategies applicable to the information requests submitted.  . Selects appropriate and relevant information resources according to search request from biomedical, pharmaceutical, clinical and other suitable online database vendors and hosts.   . Translates search request language into applicable search strategy and retrieval syntax according to vendor systems and database specifications.  . Conducts accurate, comprehensive and cost-effective online database, Intranet and Internet searches for scientific (biomedical) literature to identify published and internal information pertinent to clients' needs.  . Analyzes search results to select and provide information relevant to clients' problems; prepares a report of search results for the client.     Skills /Experience required  . Bachelor's Degree within a subject field relevant to Abbott's business or scientific interests including biology, medicine, pharmacy or chemistry, required, or relevant experience.  Master's Degree in (Library) Information Science, with specialization in a scientific or healthcare related field, preferred  . A minimum of 4 years of experience in scientific information research and information delivery in a healthcare or related industry organization  .
