Dear colleagues,
The Gesamtkatalog der Wiegendrucke (GW) database now offers a new research facility "Geographical Search for Places of Printing", cf http://www.gesamtkatalogderwiegendrucke.de/GWMapDE.xhtml.

The map shows all 15th-century places of printing as documented in the GW database. To retrieve a list of editions from individual places, click on the green markers with the left mouse button; the right-hand mouse button (or of course the other way round if you're left-handed) will direct you to online resources such as ISTC, INKA, and Wikipedia (this retrieval function is yet work in progress). Please note that when you look up printing places with a large output, like Venice, Augsburg, Cologne etc, it will take a while to load the entire list. We are very grateful for feedback on this work, which is still work in progress, so suggestions are wvery welcome.

Furthermore, the index "Quellen" ('sources') now contains a number of hyperlinks referring to digitized sources, such as incunabula catalogues, which are already available online. The entries/hyperlinks are tagged "[Online-Ressource]<http://catalog.hathitrust.org/Record/008591205>". As of today, the list contains 40 digitized works from open access repositories, with many more to follow.

Additions and advice are welcome here as well, but please bear in mind that the "Quellen" index is not a general incunabula bibliography; it includes only those works quoted in the printed GW and/or in the GW database. Many links to other digitized scholarly contributions can be found in the notes to particular GW entries ("Anmerkungen", e.g., http://gesamtkatalogderwiegendrucke.de/docs/GW00068.htm), and in the headers for a number of GW articles, for example http://gesamtkatalogderwiegendrucke.de/docs/JOHAWOR.htm. These two articles also contain links to digitized editions of the works in question (see "Reproduktionen"): two out of 8358 incunabula editions now listed in GW that can already be accessed on the Net. I'll let you all know when we've reached the mark of 10.000 (as mentioned earlier on this list).

Best, Falk
